The mirrors should be adjusted before driving to minimize blind spots. Proper mirror adjustment is crucial for safe driving, especially in larger vehicles, as it allows the driver to have a clear view of the surroundings. By adjusting mirrors prior to driving, a driver can ensure that they can see any vehicles or obstacles in adjacent lanes. This helps to enhance visibility and reduces the risk of accidents caused by unseen vehicles.

Adjusting mirrors while stationary is not sufficient; mirrors should be set before the vehicle starts moving to ensure that the driver can immediately assess their surroundings. The adjustment should also not depend on whether there is a passenger; even with no passengers, it is essential to have the mirrors correctly positioned for optimal visibility. Thus, making adjustments ahead of time is a proactive approach to driving safely.
